The deer plushie should have replaced the fox plushie that people get when they buy Playfish Cash. For reasons known only to Playfish, the deer plushie somehow got tagged as a Hideeni present. There were numerous people who found the Hideeni and was surprised that the gift was not the puppy plushie.
Reading between the lines on the message we get when we clicked on the "accept gift" yet again, there will be other Hideeni gifts in the future. But in this instance it was not supposed to be the deer plushie.
The Pet Society gamers being all troopers started sending messages and links to friends they want to share the good news with, and of course who wouldn't, the deer plushie is just too cute.
As per a moderator at the Playfish Forum, PF is currently working on a fix for this issue and in the meantime the deer plushies will be taken out, Cash shoppers will be given their toys later.
All links to get the plushie will now yield nothing. I hope for all of us who got the plushie will not be unpleasantly surprised to find the deer plusie missing from our Pet Society houses after PF ran their fix.
